Beginning the week of September 7th the sanitary sewer in the Addison & Bourdon Street alleyway will be replaced. The Contractor anticipates the work will be completed in two weeks.
Work done the week of 8/24/2020:
The Contractor extended the new 30-inch sanitary sewer across the SB lanes of Shoreline Drive and set a new manhole structure in the median. Once that work was completed, attention turned to restoring the roadway to allow for thru traffic. Concrete curb and gutter, aggregate base, two days of paving, and temporary pavement marking work was completed by the end of the day Thursday allowing the roadway to be open to traffic Friday morning. Concurrently with the opening of the SB lanes, the NB lanes of Shoreline Drive were closed and detoured to allow continued construction of the new sanitary sewer towards Yuba Street. The Contractor began pavement and curb removals Friday in the NB lanes and will resume sewer construction Monday morning.
Work upcoming the week of 8/31/2020:
Sanitary sewer will be extended across the NB lanes of Shoreline Drive during the early part of the week. The Contractor will begin to rebuild the roadway on Wednesday and prepare it for concrete curb and gutter, aggregate base placement, and the first course of asphalt paving by the end of the week. The NB lanes of Shoreline Drive are not expected to be open to traffic prior to the Labor Day weekend. The short detour route from Terrace Street to Muskegon Avenue is currently not causing significant delays. Alternative routes around the work zone are also available.
Northbound Shoreline Drive (US-31 BR) will be ‘soft’ closed at Terrace Street with a ‘hard’ closure at the loop ramp to SB Webster Avenue starting on Friday, August 28th at 8:00 am. The closure is required for the installation of new sewer main under the roadway. The Contractor is hoping to have that completed prior to the Labor Day Holiday. Northbound US-31 BR traffic will be detoured onto Terrace Street to Muskegon Avenue before rejoining Shoreline Drive. Upon completion of the Northbound Closure a similar closure will be required on Moses J. Jones Parkway after the Labor Day Holiday.
Work done the week of 8/17/2020:
Jackson Merkey Contractors, Inc. (JMC), had dewatering equipment placed and began work by setting a manhole near the County Pump Station. They will later have to come back to this location to make improvements to the metering pit although this later work should not have any traffic impacts associated with it. New 30-inch PVC sanitary sewer was placed across SB Shoreline Drive and into the median. Once across the SB lanes, JMC began back filling and compacting in an effort to reconstruct the roadway.
Work upcoming the week of 8/24/2020:
The Contractor intends to have the concrete curb and gutter placed Tuesday morning. Asphalt paving will take place on both Wednesday and Thursday. The intention is to have the SB lanes open to traffic on Friday.
The Contractor will immediately close and detour the NB Shoreline Drive lanes on Friday as well in order to extend the sanitary sewer easterly towards Yuba Drive the following week. The detour route will be the same as SB in the reverse orientation utilizing Terrace Street to Muskegon Avenue (Moses J. Jones Parkway). A map depicting the route will be posted later this week.
Southbound Shoreline Drive (US-31 BR) will be closed near the split to Webster Avenue starting on Monday, August 17th. The closure is required for the installation of a new sewer main under the roadway and is expected to last approximately 2 weeks. Southbound US-31 BR traffic will be detoured onto Webster Avenue and then onto Terrace before rejoining Shoreline Drive. Upon completion of the Southbound Closure a similar closure will be required on northbound Shoreline Drive (US-31 BR) that will utilize the same detour route.
Construction for the Spring Street Sewer Re-route is now tentatively set to begin on August 10.
The work will begin at SB Shoreline Drive near the Muskegon County Pump Station facility constructing new 30-inch sanitary sewer to the east towards Yuba Street. SB Shoreline Drive will be detoured beginning the week of August 17 via Webster Avenue to Terrace Street and then continuing on to Shoreline Drive. The SB closure will be an approximately two-week closure.
Once the SB crossing is completed, the Contractor will continue towards Yuba Street and cross NB Shoreline Drive in a similar fashion. NB Shoreline Drive traffic will be detoured beginning the week of August 31 via Terrace Street to Muskegon Street and continuing on to Shoreline Drive.
Dates are tentative – please check back for updates.
