Week 28

Work Completed the Week of June 14:

On Monday, JMC finished the remaining storm sewer work with the installed of the final 24” storm sewer in the Webster intersection and remaining catch basin structures.  On Tuesday, the crew installed final 8” sanitary sewer down Webster and 6” sanitary lateral to the vacant lot on the west side.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the crews pressure tested and ran Mandrel test for all the 8” and 18″ sanitary to ensure conformance to specifications.  All tests passed.  The crews then shift their attention to grading the roadway of Spring Street from the sound end near Muskegon Ave. towards Webster.

Work Upcoming the Week of June 21:
The crews will now focus on building the roadway of Spring Street by excavating the underlying soils to subgrade depth and placing aggregate base course in preparation for concrete curb and gutters.
The pavement section of Spring Street between Clay and Webster Avenue is getting special attention due to the poor underlying soils.  The subgrade soils will be cutdown considerably further and a lightweight slag aggregate will be placed to ensure a lighter cross section that will further inhibit settlement of the roadway.  This cross section along with the soil surcharging done over the winter should allow for a long lifespan fof the roadway and utilities.
