Week 29 Update

Work Completed Week of June 21:
JMC began excavating out the existing underlying material on Spring Street in preparation of aggregate base course.  The crews are excavating much deeper in the Clay and Webster intersections for placement of the light weight iron blast slag both in the intersections and also the section of Spring Street between Clay and Webster.  Once the crews excavated down to the subgrade elevation, they placed a non-woven geotextile fabric prior to installing the light weight slag.

Construction continued with placement of aggregate base material the rest of the week along the entire stretch of Spring Street from Western Avenue to Yuba Street in preparation of concrete curb and gutter placement next week.

Work Upcoming the Week of June 28:
We anticipate concrete curb and gutter construction the middle of the week.  Once the curb and gutter is complete, JMC can begin fine grading the roadway in preparation of asphalt paving.  The intersections of Muskegon and Webster Avenue will get the first course of asphalt by the end of the week.
The City intends to open up the intersections of Muskegon and Webster by the end of the week for the long holiday weekend.
